Shiftgig New Orleans goes to the Super Bowl

This Sunday, 30 football-loving members of the Shiftgig New Orleans team traveled to Houston to work Super Bowl LI.  Our team worked a VIP event before the game as well as the Patriots post-game party, an event that was made way more exciting by the incredible Patriots come-from-behind victory. Our team got to see tons of excited Patriots fans, many of the Patriots players, Patriots owner Robert Kraft and several celebrities. We even got a close up view of the Lombardi Trophy!

Shiftgig Field Manager Tom Larson helped coordinate activities for the entire 30 hour adventure. His summary of the experience? “Working Super Bowl LI was a once in a lifetime experience thanks to Shiftgig New Orleans.” We agree!Picture123.png

The team woke up bright and early and boarded the bus to Houston at 4:00 am.  Everyone was in good spirits, despite the early morning and chilly bus (turns out, we New Orleanians like everything hot!) We arrived at the enormous venue – the Champions Club at the NRG Center – and marveled at the vastness of the space. Then the doors opened and it was incredible to watch the fans literally pour in and fill the space.
It takes a lot of work to feed thousands of hungry fans and the Shiftgig team jumped into action. The team worked a variety of buffet stations and  served up delicious treats while making sure the food was regularly replenished the space was clean and sparkling.  Shiftgig Specialist Jared Jackson worked the popular dessert table (pictured), but he will tell you that seeing Tom Brady up close and in person was the highlight for him.Picture1234-602413-edited.png

The team worked hard all day and night, bringing our unique New Orleans brand of hospitality to Houston, but we managed to have a little bit of fun, too!  We hung out with fellow fans who were in the spirit, met up with our friends at Shiftgig Houston, took some selfies, and got to listen to great acts like Lady Antebellum, John Legend, and Pitbull.

Look who lucky Specialist Ashinda Scott ran into at the Patriots after party?  #22 Justin Coleman, cornerback for the winning team. When asked about her experience working for Shiftgig, Ashinda said, “I absolutely love my position with Shiftgig New Orleans. They truly care about their employees. We had a blast in Houston for the Super Bowl. It was a wonderful experience and I will travel with my team anywhere. I couldn’t have a better crew to work with!”

Some lucky members of Shiftgig New Orleans get to have the celebrity experience back at home, too. Specialist Donald Lombard has had numerous celebrity run-ins while working his day job on Bourbon Street and he took his signature service style to Texas. He worked nonstop taking care of the Patriots players celebrating at the afterparty. He can be seen below with a token of their appreciation – a SIGNED football from the players. Now that’s an amazing momento!

We totally agree with his assessment of Super Bowl LI: “The whole experience was awesome. Our group had a chance to witness history in the greatest sporting event in America! Thanks Shiftgig!”
