With Shiftgig recently announcing Wade Burgess, former VP of Talent Solutions at LinkedIn, as our Chief Executive Officer effective September 25th, Eddie Lou, our former CEO, reflects back on his time with Shiftgig and shares what’s ahead for the company.
When I co-founded Shiftgig in 2011, I never imagined the social impact that we could make. Shiftgig has quite literally changed thousands of people’s lives. In fact, to date, Shiftgig has raised $59 million in capital, hired more than 24,000 workers, and helped over 2,200 clients, including some of the biggest names in food service, hospitality, retail, warehouse and experiential marketing, source and manage their contingent workforce.
As Shiftgig enters its next big phase of growth and maturity, we are seeing greater potential for our mobile app to help achieve our vision of creating financial opportunity for the hourly workforce. Over the past few months we’ve started bringing on amazing executive talent, including a Vice President of Sales and a Chief Technology Officer to help influence this growth. However, now it is time to bring Shiftgig to new heights with a digital HR leader as our Chief Executive Officer, Wade Burgess.
My philosophy has always been to surround oneself with those who are better than you in order to build something great, which is how I felt when I first met Wade. Most recently, he was the VP of Sales for Talent Solutions at LinkedIn, where he managed 3,000 people globally with responsibility for over $2.8 Billion in sales. His leadership, experience, and personal mission of helping people live better lives made him the perfect fit for the job.
With Wade as CEO, I am confident Shiftgig has the opportunity to build more innovative technology and make the lives of our current clients and Specialists easier.
My new role with Shiftgig will be serving as Executive Chairman where I will oversee corporate development, channel partnerships, and assist with big enterprise acquisition to help the company grow.
The future of Shiftgig is extremely bright and I could not be more proud of how far Shiftgig has come as a company.
