LowCountry Catering has served authentic Carolina cuisine to the greater Atlanta area for over 30 years. Specializing in “turnkey” event planning that includes venues, tents, tables & chairs, decor and entertainment, the company hosts everything from weddings to private parties to corporate events.

Shiftgig spoke with Jessica Brown, LowCountry’s Staffing Manager, and asked her three simple questions. Here’s what she had to say about Shiftgig.

What led you to Shiftgig?

When I was brought on as Staffing Manager at LowCountry, my top priorities were to grow our own pool of staff and to cultivate a relationship with a company that we could lean on when it came to outsourcing staffing during busy times. I dreaded this task because I had a predetermined, negative mindset about temporary staffing. Fortunately for me, a call from Shiftgig came at just the right time. Being a millennial, I was enamored by the idea that I could use an app to communicate and execute my staffing needs.

How have your processes changed since using Shiftgig?

In the beginning, I was hesitant to use the Shiftgig app because I like to provide way too much detail, choosing instead to call my account manager or send an email with my requests. As the app evolved, it became easier for me to submit my staffing needs from my phone. This has been extremely helpful for when I am on the go, which is often in this industry!

What does your team love most about working with Shiftgig?

The most exciting part about the relationship we are building with Shiftgig is the fact that I feel like I am building my own team of Specialists. We use the All-Star functionality to identify high performers who we’d like to invite back event after event. My team used to dread events when they worked alongside temporary workers because of the uncertainty of who they would be working with and what skills they had. Now that we are using Shiftgig, my team looks forward to seeing familiar faces at events.
